LOTR might have had extensive ADR, but that is not for lack of a very accomplished sound team lead by Hammond Peek, who has a career spanning over 25 years. The decision to use ADR is not indicative of poor sound, and is used for many other reasons, including script changes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8975446085706346789.post-89671671583919248502007-10-27T16:56:00.000-07:002007-10-27T16:56:00.000-07:00Hello Ben.You wrote in your linkedin profile that ...Hello Ben.
You wrote in your linkedin profile that you look for feature length film projects.
I look now for a director for my screenplay that has positive references from several award winning filmmakers.
Contact me if you are interested.
E-mail: kamil@rafikov.com
Website: http://kamil.rafikov.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8975446085706346789.post-30120231157717017422007-09-09T22:31:00.000-07:002007-09-09T22:31:00.000-07:00I didn't think I had anything to add to our discus...I didn't think I had anything to add to our discussion until I watched this video review for Bioshock. Maybe video games offer an outlet for thought-provoking sci-fi. Think of it: you can capture your audience with a blow-the-hell-out-of-everything first-person shooter while simultaneously immersing them in a well-crafted story that can activate their minds in between boss battles. The fact that games have an interactive element that TV and movies lack give them all the more potential, I think.Joelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17975027540308267518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8975446085706346789.post-48043530417615845942007-09-08T15:27:00.000-07:002007-09-08T15:27:00.000-07:00Definitely some great points as usual, King Friday...Definitely some great points as usual, King Friday ;) Sadly, until there's a major shift in cultural paradigm, I think what it will take to reverse this trend is Leaders with real artistic vision really stepping up to the plate. IMHO, preceisely what we need are more Peter Jacksons and even, dare I suggest, more Mel Gibsons (insane though he may be), with the audacity to break all the rules and prove the system wrong. I wish people spent more time researching their subject or bringing in people who know the subject. "Alias" is a good example, from it's lack of research to its fluffy, soapy quality. I mean, Star Trek the show is a soap opera format with lots of characters and different plot lines moving at once, but it's not a trashy romance novel (well, not all the time). I must concede that Trek isn't for everyone and I think that's the way it's got to be. I also agree whole-heartedly that the franchise needs re-energizing and in the exact way you said Eric: go back to its roots and come out again from there. Unfortunately, I'm afraid I have to go on record as one of the extreme minority of people who generally enjoy sci-fi, but never really got into Trek :/ I'm really not sure why that is, but perhaps it is slightly too hardcore sci-fi for me. That said, the last thing I would want is for ANY franchise to lose its essence in order to appeal to a wider audience that could include me. To me, that is a formula for failure that you can bank on, regardless.Trūth ɪs Pɑwərhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09005698658714650124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8975446085706346789.post-69818986578259376612007-03-29T19:09:00.000-07:002007-03-29T19:09:00.000-07:00It is extremely unfortunate that it is all about t...It is extremely unfortunate that it is all about the bling-bling in Hollywood.

I just hope they realize that Re-Imagining (or as I like to call it, Prettying it Up and Dumming it Down for Main Stream America) is NOT the way to "Save" this franchise.

Well done Ben.
